London, UK – 9th April 2024: Qwell, a personalised and confidential digital mental health service delivered by Kooth, is now available to parents and carers of children and young people aged up to 18 years in Clackmannanshire.

The service, which is accessible seven days per week, 365 days a year, has been commissioned by Clackmannanshire Council as part of the Family Wellbeing Partnership.

Available immediately via www.qwell.io, there are no waiting lists or thresholds to meet, and a referral from a medical professional is not required to access the service.

Kooth’s youth mental health service - kooth.com - has been providing invaluable support to those aged 10-18 in the region since September 2021 (and up to 26 years old since April last year). Both Kooth.com and Qwell.io were selected for their strengths-based approach and unique out-of-office hours provision. The services ensure that the right help is available to people at the right time.

Qwell offers parents and carers access to experienced counsellors and wellbeing practitioners via one-to-one text-based chat sessions that are available from midday to 10pm on weekdays and from 6pm to 10pm at the weekend.

Running alongside is a fully safeguarded and pre-moderated Qwell community of peer support including:

Helpful articles: written by other people in the community, alongside the Kooth team. They cover a variety of topics that are age-appropriate and resonate with the reader, such as personal experiences and helpful tips

Discussion boards: where people can seek advice from their peers or join - and start - pre-moderated conversations. The topics covered are those that are on the minds of the parents and carers, from anxiety and work stress, to relationship and family issues

Daily journal: offers a place for parents and carers to track their feelings or emotions and reflect on how they're doing

Lesley Taylor, Principal Educational Psychologist at Clackmannanshire Council said: “It’s important that we provide timely and professional mental health support for those who are caring for and parenting young people. By extending our commissioning of Kooth to include its adult service - Qwell - we are offering a choice of personalised mental health services that can be accessed 24/7 at a mere click (or tap) of a button. It’s part of our commitment to promote, protect and improve the emotional wellbeing and mental health of families in Clackmannanshire.”

Dr Lynne Green, Chief Clinical Officer at Kooth, added: “Seeking help and support for mental health concerns is not always easy, especially when you are a parent and/or carer. This is where digital mental health services can help. At Kooth, we are on a mission to ensure that everyone has access to timely and effective mental health care based on their individual preferences and needs. Our Qwell service will ensure that parents and carers in Clacks have access to anonymous, safe and effective mental health care and support that is available around the clock. No matter how big or small the issue, our team of experienced practitioners and professional counsellors are here to help.”

Kooth will work in tandem with Clackmannanshire to raise awareness of the service, ensuring that parents and carers know that Qwell.io is available and accessible to them.

Kooth and Qwell are accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
