Celebrating community: Mental Health Awareness Week 2025

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we're shining a light on our on-the-ground engagement team, working hand in hand with hundreds of communities across the UK. A lot of the team's outreach is in schools and colleges - in 2024, they reached over a million young people through assemblies and webinars.

Our engagement experts also work to integrate Kooth and Qwell with universities, local community services, as well as linking with healthcare professionals and sharing a huge range of resources, from activity booklets and webinars to social assets and posters.

How we embed our services in local communities

Alexa Gooder, our head of engagement and user marketing explains the critical role of the engagement team in integrating our services deep within local communities.

This unique feet-on-the-street approach raises local awareness while delivering vital training and knowledge sessions.

Positively impacting communities across the UK

The engagement team is instrumental in integrating our services locally, working across the country to offer support and insights around mental health and wellbeing while making sure people know timely help is available. To get a sense of the scale of this work, swipe through some of our biggest numbers from 2024:

Safe support for students

As part of our continuous ‘Kooth in the community’ work, we run school assemblies.

After working with Forge School in Sheffield, we caught up with the school’s assistant head, Anna Hart, to hear her thoughts on Kooth as a safe, online space to find help and support.

Resources to support schools and local organisations

Schools, GP surgeries and other local organisations use our resources. These range from posters, flyers and webinars to resources to help address a specific mental health issue, such as exam stress. Here are two examples of the kind of resources many organisations find so useful.

The importance of on-the-ground engagement

Our on-the-ground engagement means we understand and serve each of the communities in which we offer digital mental health support.

In this video, engagement experts Olivia and Tom explain exactly what they do and the real world difference this vital, preventative work makes everyday.

Working alongside communities to tackle health inequalities

As part of our mission to tackle health inequalities, we work with underrepresented groups to understand and address the barriers they face - and shape our services around what they truly need.

One example of this work comes from London, where we found some young Muslims facing significant barriers to accessing mental health support.

Read about how we worked alongside Muslims communities to improve access and engagement.
