Collaborating with specialist support organisations

Shape
Shape 2

We pride ourselves on working alongside other organisations for the greater good of those we support. Our focus is getting the right support for our users, and sometimes that means working with or signposting to specialist organisations.

We have successful working relationships with many organisations and we have worked with leading specialist organisations around the UK. Here are two recent examples of partnerships that have led to some rich and supportive therapeutic content for our service user communities on Kooth and Qwell.

Winston’s Wish

Grief and loss is something that affects so many children and young people in the UK. Winston’s Wish is a specialist charity supporting grieving children and young people and their families.

We wanted to share the voices of grieving young people so for one of our Kooth podcast episodes, we got together with three incredible young people from the Winston’s Wish youth ambassador team.

The aim of the podcast was to facilitate a conversation about grief with young people who have been affected, to help listeners feel less alone with their own experiences of grief and loss.

The podcast was shared on our podcast channel, our main website, and we also did a collaborative promotion on our social media channel. As a subject that can affect so many people, the podcast continues to be shared by our service delivery team with young people affected by grief.

Rape and Sexual Abuse Service Highland (RASASH)

Rape and Sexual Abuse Service Highland (RASASH) is part of the Rape Crisis Service network UK. It is an independent charity providing free, confidential, and specialist support to people affected by sexual violence in the Scottish Highlands.

We support people all over the UK, including Scotland, so we wanted to work with an organisation that understood the unique needs of our users affected by sexual violence no matter where they were in the UK. We got together with Lyndsay Linning from RASASH and created a series of three podcasts for our adult Qwell community, covering:

  • common fears and worries

  • the importance of self care

  • sexual assault and violence in rural areas.

The collaboration was an opportunity to explore the themes we often come across with those we support in a thoughtful, knowledgeable, and safe way. We also wanted to create an episode bespoke to those living in rural communities, due to the unique challenges they face.
