At Kooth, we have always believed that to truly make an impact, digital services must be rooted in real-life. Building an amazing digital mental health service is useless if it exists in a vacuum, if nobody uses it, or if it remains out of reach for the people who really need it.
This is why the vision of our partners in the State of California is so powerful. Soluna, powered by Kooth, is a State-wide behavioral health service that’s available at the touch of a button - free, immediate access to evidence-based support, without a referral or insurance.
Because every 13-25 year old across the State has access to Soluna, every other professional or service that works with California’s youth knows they can point a young person somewhere they’re guaranteed to get support within minutes.
These trusted networks - in schools, doctor’s offices, or community organizations - are crucial to building Soluna’s reputation with young Californians, ensuring that they know that they have somewhere safe to turn when they need extra help.
Through Soluna, young people can access one-to-one coaching, self-guided tools and clinically informed content, a moderated peer support community, and Care Navigators who help connect them to local resources when more support is needed.
This is why we’re so proud to see Soluna recognised in a joint letter from the California Department of Education, in partnership with the California Department of Health Care Services and the California Health & Human Services Agency.
Emphasising the importance of embedding digital services into existing systems rather than alongside it, the letter calls on schools and districts across the state to integrate Soluna into their existing student mental health and wellness efforts. When support is integrated in this way, it can extend the reach of educators and community partners, making it easier for young people to access care earlier and in ways that feel relevant to their lives.
The growing impact of Soluna is reflected in both its reach and how young people are engaging with the platform. To date, Soluna has reached more than 150,000 young people across all 58 counties in California and delivered over 53,000 one-to-one coaching sessions. That scale is matched by the experience young people are having: 87% report getting the support they wanted and 86% reported that Soluna helped them learn they’re not alone in how they feel.
For many young people, that impact is felt in everyday moments. As one Soluna user shared, “I used to get really stressed about school and work that I was too afraid to do anything, like I was paralyzed. I would avoid checking my schedule and ignore things if they got bad. With Soluna, everything with work and school isn't perfect, but I have the ability now to face problems when I encounter them.”
This is the kind of outcome that comes with timely access to support, helping young people manage stress so they can stay engaged in school, navigate relationships, and move forward with greater confidence in their daily lives.
These experiences are reinforced by the adults who support young people in their daily lives, with 95% of educators and youth-serving professionals saying they would recommend Soluna. They are also seeing changes in day-to-day settings, with 89% reporting improvements in youth concentration in school and 83% expressing confidence that Soluna supports staff in promoting student and youth mental wellbeing.
This level of reach, trust, and impact points to the kind of system this letter is advancing, one where support is connected, preventative, and easier to access within the environments where young people already are.
