Our clinical approach

Kooth is a pioneer in delivering 'upstream' digital mental health care at scale, underpinned by robust clinical evidence.

Person-centred prevention

We take an individual strengths-based approach to support, working alongside people as they lead their own journey towards better mental health.

  • Approach aligns with the Thrive Framework, developed by the Anna Freud Centre

  • Fluid model enables access to the right level of intervention at the right time.

  • Kooth enables access at all four levels, some simultaneously, depending on need.

How Kooth makes a difference

Our growing evidence base shows how Kooth’s model delivers numerous positive outcomes through diverse pathways to support.

The importance of anonymity

Kooth is anonymous at sign up, which is key to building the trust that enables people to open up. There is a significant supporting evidence:

  • Suicide data shows that simply being known to services is not sufficient to prevent those at risk of suicide from taking their own lives

  • Psychological theory describes how anonymity can increase engagement - this is supported by service user feedback

  • Our practice-based evidence demonstrates that we effectively de-escalate risk

  • Our severity and presenting issues data shows that many of our users would not meet the threshold for onward referral and yet still need timely support to prevent escalation of difficulties

For years I’ve felt unable to do anything with my life, now, I want to live it. You have pulled me through situations others didn't even know about. You kept me alive and safe when others couldn't.

Before Kooth, I was struggling with a lot of stress and anxiety. I didn’t know how to cope with it. That’s when I came across Kooth. It reassured me that I’m not alone…that’s how I found different ways to cope with it, such as kickboxing.
